ORC Networks
Vanguard Diversity Network
ORC’s Vanguard Equal Employment Opportunity Network consists
of private sector
companies working within a wide range of services and industries.
Network membership
is aimed at organisations with well-developed policies and initiatives.
The Network
meets three times a year and provides valuable opportunities for
members to learn of
developments across the broad spectrum of equality and diversity:
race, gender, disability,
age, sexual orientation, religion and belief and related equality
issues. Network meetings
focus on members sharing information, experience and expertise
and they explore
solutions for designing effective policies and practice for the
management of equal
opportunities.

Services
Services are tailored to meet the changing needs of the Network’s
members and
currently include:
Meetings
- The agendas for the three meetings each year are tailored
to important equality
issues of the day and cover all equality strands. Guest speakers
may include
Government Ministers and other “thought leaders” ensuring
that current issues
and discussions are practical, results oriented and completely
confidential.
- Information updates on UK legislative developments, including
Government
consultation papers, activities of the Equality Commissions and
other relevant
organisations
- Issue-specific workshops that are additional to the regular
meetings and which
examine a current issue in more depth
Timely and authoritative information
- ORC’s Heads Up e-mail alerts that inform members
of key developments in
equality and diversity, e.g., news reports, tribunal cases, survey
findings
- ORC’s Current Developments in Equality and Diversity,
published three times a
year to coincide with scheduled Network meetings, summarises
key developments
in the equality and diversity field in the UK and internationally
- ORC provides a “clearing house” service to
enable information sharing on policies
and practices among Network members outside of the scheduled
and issue
specific meetings
- Member-only ORC website to enable easy access to ORC’s
archive of information
and updates
Benchmarking and surveys
- ORC conducts surveys and benchmarking studies on equality
and diversity issues
of interest to Network members. Recent surveys and studies have
reviewed maternity
pay, benefits and leave arrangements, and equal opportunities
monitoring.
Membership
The Vanguard Network is a confidential Network providing a unique
opportunity to
share best practices and discuss current issues of common relevance
to the membership.
Member companies are represented at Network meetings by their Senior
Diversity and Human Resources Managers. Member organisations encompass
a wide
variety of industries including financial services, retail, telecom,
media, manufacturing
and pharmaceutical; all the companies are committed to developing
their equality and
diversity practices.
