ORC Networks
As a leader in the fast-changing human resources profession, you
know the value of having a personal network—people you can
trust, knowing they understand and are facing similar challenges.
But it's not easy to find such people, build such relationships—especially
when you need them most.
ORC has been quietly answering this need for nearly 50 years.
Its human resources networks bring together professional peers
to exchange human resources and organisational information and
to interact with other companies in a professional and completely
confidential setting.
These groups share best practices and experience, review issues
and problems in specific or broad areas of HR management (e.g.,
compensation, global diversity, equal opportunities, labor relations),
and work collectively on matters of common interest. The relationships
forged at the meetings continue and strengthen between meetings
in a variety of both structured and informal ways. Members contact
each other informally when they have a quick question—or,
from time to time, a member will ask ORC to conduct a quick poll
of all members on a topic of immediate importance to his or her
company. ORC also maintains other, ongoing channels of communication
among network members.
You are not alone. And that can be a great source
of professional strength to you as you face the challenge of helping
your organisation find, manage, and reward its unique workforce.
You can profit, personally and organisationally,
from joining together with HR leaders from other firms facing similar
strategic and operational issues. The wider your peer network,
the more effective you can be in carrying out your own responsibilities.
So look through the variety of networks ORC offers and see the
focus and membership profile of each.
Consider the issues you face. And then find
the network of people who face similar ones. Knowing how those
people are responding could serve as a check on—or an affirmation
of—the course you are currently taking.
