Breakthrough Diversity Network
The Breakthrough Network serves as a leading resource on equality
and diversity
issues for major public sector organisations in the United Kingdom.
The network provides
a confidential forum for HR executives and diversity managers to
address the
broad equality and diversity agenda in employment in the UK in addition
to drawing
on ORC’s knowledge of relevant developments in continental
Europe and the broader
international context.

Services
Services are tailored to meet the changing needs of the members
and currently include:
Meetings
- The agendas at two regular one day meetings a year are tailored
to the group’s
current interests, as well as anticipating relevant developments
in the equality
agenda. Guest speakers may include Government Ministers and other
public
policy leaders.
- Information updates on UK legislative developments, including
Government
consultation papers, activities of the Equality Commissions and
other relevant
organisations
- Issue-specific workshops that are additional to the regular
meetings and which
examine a current issue in more depth
Timely and authoritative information
- ORC publishes regular Heads Up email updates on key
developments in equality
and diversity arising from news items, tribunal cases, research,
survey findings,
policy initiatives, and cultural and religious events, in the UK
and also where relevant
from the international context.
- ORC publishes Current Developments in Equality and Diversity
three times a year.
Current Developments summarises the key developments in the equality
and diversity
agenda in the UK, provides an update on European developments,
as well as
an update on activities in the US and in the broader global context
- ORC provides an information updating service on relevant
topics from UK legislation,
Government consultation papers, the Equality Commissions and other
relevant
organisations in written and oral format.
- ORC provides an information clearing house and primes the
network on relevant
developments and issues.
- ORC provides a members only Web site containing copies
of all ORC materials,
archive of Heads Up e-mail alerts and slide presentations from
meetings.
Benchmarking and surveys
- Issue specific meetings held at member’s request
on a regular basis to address specific
topics in more detail. Past meetings have addressed: Diversity
and supplier
procurement; Engaging White Males in Diversity; Age Discrimination;
Board

Breakthrough Network members represent a wide range of public sector
organisations
from service providers to Government departments. Representatives
are senior HR
